Our founder and instructor, Jaz, has a deeply personal connection to the power of Pilates. Following a significant life event that challenged her physical mobility, Jaz spent years exploring different ways to move her body with intention. Along the way, she navigated the complexities of living with hypermobility, discovering firsthand that traditional high-impact gym environments aren’t always the right fit for every body.
It was through Pilates that Jaz found a sustainable, enjoyable way to build functional strength. The practice didn’t just change how she moved, it changed her perspective on what her body was capable of achieving.
Driven by this experience, Jaz qualified as an instructor and has since taught at over six studios across Auckland. Her approach is rooted in the belief that movement should be accessible, focused, and deeply respectful of an individual’s physical journey.
In early 2024, after welcoming her daughter, Jaz recognized a gap in the market for mothers seeking high-quality, tailored workouts in a baby-friendly environment. She created Ember Studio to be that sanctuary, a specialized space for those seeking extra attention, modified movement, and a personalized service that honors where your body is today.
